Why I Love Fitness:

I was at the gym today and was in one of the zones you dream of. I was feeling good, looking good, and I had it in full beast mode. It was while I was in this zone that I thought of the idea for this article. I was thinking about how much I love working out and all the reasons why. The list was piling up seemingly with each set I performed. I initially had a different topic lined up to write about, but after today’s session I really want to bring this to the table instead. I have a feeling a lot of readers will relate!

There are so many aspects in life things don’t necessarily work out, no matter how hard you try. You may work harder than anyone at your job, but that doesn’t mean you will get that promotion you want, or that you’ll be paid accordingly. You can bend over backwards for other people, but they may still let you down. You may love someone with all your heart, but there is no guarantee they will love you in return. Hopefully these things aren’t happening to any of you, but I wanted to show how fitness is not the same way.

Fitness, when you are doing the right things, will pay off! Now, you may be thinking I just wrote an article on how fitness isn’t always fair and there is truth to that. However, just because it’s easier for some people to get fit than it is for others doesn’t mean it’s not still incredibly rewarding.

I love fitness because there is no cheating it, if you’re doing it naturally of course. Sure, there are plenty of variables, but bottom line is you get what you put in. If you work your tail off, eat right, and drink right, it’s going to pay off. Fitness will give you back what you put in. It’s not something that you can fake. You also get to wear your hard work everywhere you go. Your badge of honor is your body. Nobody can take away what you’ve done in the gym. You worked for it, you earned it, and you get to wear it with pride!

I love fitness because of the way it makes me feel. Not just physically, but also mentally. When I’m in the gym and I’m in my zone, I feel unstoppable. When I’m done with a great workout, don’t even bother trying to bring me down because I’m on an endorphin high that won’t allow me to do anything but feel fantastic. If I have a bad day and need something to pick me up, there is nothing better than a great workout to turn things around. This is why making the right food choices and putting in the work comes easy for me. Knowing how great I’m going to feel is all the reason I need.

I love fitness because it gives me more confidence with seemingly everything in life. There is something about walking around looking and feeling fit, that makes me feel like I can take on the world. There is this feeling that you get when you get yourself in good shape that you really can’t explain to anyone who hasn’t gotten themselves there. The only way anyone else will know what you are talking about is when they do it themselves. The really exciting part for me is though I feel like I have a pretty decent body already, I know I’m really nowhere near where I’d like to be. I don’t know that I ever will be, and that’s great because I don’t ever want to lose my drive to get better!

I love fitness because it makes so many other things in life easier. I can go outside and shovel snow without feeling the need to collapse. Oh yeah, and there is that whole I want to live thing. It helps with that too.

I love that people who have the same passion about fitness like me come together to support each other. It is such an amazing thing to me, the way strangers come together to help, support and encourage each other. I get so excited when I hear about other people doing well with their fitness goals and especially when people finally get off the couch to take control of their lives. I’m finding these feelings are true for many people who are passionate about fitness too.

I started a fitness blog in June with the thought that it would be fun to talk about what I’m doing and to keep myself accountable. What I ended up getting out of it was a really fun group of people who are all in this thing together, helping, supporting and encouraging each other all the time. We are constantly bouncing ideas off of each other. I’ve not only gained some great friends from it, but I’ve also learned a lot and I’d like to think I’ve helped others learn a lot as well. The same thing goes anywhere there is a large group of people who all make health and fitness a priority. It’s a community that I love being a part of. Honestly, I never would have discovered this if I hadn’t started my blog.

This is why I love fitness. It never lets me down and is always there for me. I know if I treat fitness well it will treat me well in return. If you don’t think fitness is giving you much love, chances are you aren’t showing it enough love! It seems like the list of reasons to love fitness is never-ending. I feel like I could go on and write about this forever.
